Prayer Requests

Walking Free Belfast

In 1989 I was living in Galway city on the west coast of Ireland attending bible college, during my stay there I would often go out on the streets and share the Gospel with the local people. I discovered a great barrier to the Gospel, this really upset me and I turned to prayer for the answer.

During this time God put it on my heart to walk and pray in different parts of Galway as He led me. I didn’t realise it at the time but this was the beginning of a prayer walking ministry that would one day take me to many different parts of the world.
The results of this prayer walking ministry were astounding, I experienced God do miracles amongst the people of Galway and my faith in prayer was much strengthened.

I had been a drug addict and alcoholic for over 20 years and deep down I knew I needed help before my Christian walk would bear fruit that would last so I applied to go to Teen Challenge in Wales, I was accepted and successfully completed the programme in 1991.

While I was on the T.C. programme God spoke to me very clearly about continuing my prayer walks, this burden stayed with me and was eventually recognised by my leadership at that time. In 1992 Teen Challenge released me as an evangelist, one of the first things I did was walk from Belfast to Dublin with a group of people which included former terrorists. We walked the 100 miles in 5 days and we saw absolutely amazing answers to prayer.

I continued as an evangelist with T.C. They recognised the walks ministry and once again in 1993 they released me to walk the length and breadth of Wales, During this walk I prayed for revival, I walked through the towns and villages where the great Welsh revival of 1904 started. Towards the end of this walk I sensed a real breakthrough in the intercession for revival and a new burden began to come upon me, a burden for the addict. I knew that before I could take this burden all the way through that I would have to do one more walk in Ireland. The intercession for peace was not prayed through yet and before taking on fully the burden for the addict I knew I must walk in my home country once again.

I turned to prayer once again and asked the Lord what he wanted me to do this time, I was still working as an evangelist with T.C. at the time and one day whilst praying and studying the Word, God Spoke to me from Genesis 13:17 “ Arise and Walk through the land for I give it to you” I was overwhelmed and knew that God was going to give peace in Ireland, I knew many other intercessors were praying in Ireland and I counted it a privilege to be called to join them. Full of joy and excitement I ran out of my room to tell someone, the first person I bumped into was David (Packy) Hamilton, a former U.V.F. terrorist in northern Ireland.
He had been with me and had helped organise the walk from Belfast to Dublin. Hallelujah! Said Packy,” Go for it,” and I did. In 1994 I walked 530 miles through the length and breadth of Ireland. The mighty answer to this intercession speaks for itself, sometimes we are amazed when God answers prayer.
