Sponsored Street Sleep - Bradford : 7th-11th July 2009

Our second Street Sleep is taking place very soon on 7th - 11th July 2009.

The Street Sleep, Making Addiction History is to raise awareness of homelessness in Bradford and to raise money for Walking Free to be able to buy a building where we can support the homeless, vulnerably housed and those with life controlling issues.
Our First Street Sleep in Bradford last year, at the Forster Square arches, was a huge success; we had over 120 people sleeping out with us over the three nights. We raised over £ 1,700 and with this money we were able to provide bed and breakfast accommodation for rough sleepers, we were able to feed over 1000 people and provide Food from our centre over the Christmas period.
We want to continue in raising awareness of homelessness, not just in Bradford but throughout the UK.
Our summer street sleep will take place under the arches again, on the 9th, 10th 11th of July, with emphasis on fellowship, street cleaning and awareness of some of the issues the homeless and vulnerably housed face.
Our summer Street Sleep will include a "Place for Contemplation" remembering people who have lost loved ones to homelessness or addiction. We will hold an open air memorial service in the Friday night at 7.30pm to remember the loved ones that we have lost through addiction and homelessness.

On Saturday 11th July the ONE Band will be doing an out reach gig in the Bradford Cathedral at 7.30pm, with a guest band and our own homeless choir.
This gig will be a chance for people to feel the presence of the holy spirit and to give their lives to God. Please click here for the One Band website.
